What Actually Happens in a
MetCon Class

MetCon — short for metabolic conditioning — is a style of training that combines strength work, cardiovascular effort, and functional movement into a single, structured session. It’s demanding in the best way: you finish a class having actually done something, not just completed a set of isolated machine exercises.

At ESTLR, every MetCon class runs on a structured format. You’ll start with a coach-led warm-up, move through skill or strength work — barbell lifting, movement drills, gymnastics skills — then finish with the conditioning portion. The whole session is 60 minutes.

Every movement can be scaled. If something is beyond your current ability, your coach will give you a version that’s equally challenging for your level. No one sits out. No one watches from the sidelines.

MetCon Class FAQs

No. Our MetCon classes are designed for all fitness levels. Your coach scales every movement to your current ability. Many of our members started with little to no gym experience and built up over time. You just need to show up.

We keep class sizes deliberately small so your coach can give real, individual attention — correcting form, offering encouragement, and making sure you’re getting the most out of every session.

Comfortable athletic clothing and training shoes with a flat or minimal heel. Bring a water bottle. We have changing rooms and showers on-site if you’re coming from or heading to work.

Three to four sessions per week is a solid starting point for most people. It gives your body enough stimulus to adapt while allowing adequate recovery time. Our 3x/week membership is designed with this in mind.

Yes. Visiting athletes with at least three months of training experience are welcome to drop in for $28 per class. See our Drop-In page for booking details.
